Talking to ghosts
The first story in New Jersey author Whit Taylor’s collection begins, like Dickens' A Christmas Carol, with three ghosts. These phantoms make the protagonist – a stand-in for Taylor herself– an offer she can’t refuse: she can talk with any historical figure she’d like to meet, as long as they are dead already.
