A deluge
This curve is reiterated throughout the comic: in Burdock’s round figurative drawings, in the swooping text bubbles that provide her dialogue, and even in the blackened spaces between figures, their darkness imprinted with tiny whorls that replicate fingerprint ridges. Her rendering heightens the effects of what she refers to both as a burst dam and a wave, leaving the individuals who populate her pages waterlogged, and, at moments, swollen with fatigue. In Burdock's depiction, covid-19 leaves a strained and stressed ecosystem in its wake.
