Reconciliation
The book is organized into three sections: “Arriving,” “Settling In,” and “Moving On.” Panel size and shape are irregular. The borders are frequently porous, and sometimes not there at all. The effect is visually unsettling and magnetic; we are confined along with Wright in this place with no way out. In “Arriving,” a depiction of the author's father's trailer park living room and his early childhood with his sister culminate in a full-page illustration of a mythic and towering Neil as shown from the perspective of a much smaller person. For Wright, reconciliation with his father is fraught with physical and emotional risks.
