Yoido Full Gospel Church

Yoido

After the Seodaemun Church was established, the growth was explosive, where numbers consistently exceeded 10,000, and they needed to find a new space. One of the recommendations was Yoido which was barren land in the Center of Seoul at the time. However, during the construction of the new Church, the middle east oil shock happened, as well as the devaluing of the Korean won, which halted the building, and members started to leave; it looked as if Yoido was going to collapse. However, members had sold their homes and belongings to keep the Church alive and were able to pay off its debts. On August 19, 1973, Yoido was officially built, and a new era was ushered in that saw the congregation double in size and even hold the 10th Pentecostal World Conference.
