This special edition has a memoir of Poe’s life by J.H. Ingram and account of his death by N.P. Willis, an associate of Poe’s. Publication date is unknown. The cover is silver and blue patterned. Inside cover contains a handwritten note:“Jessie I. Graham. Christmas 1898 From Ruia”. Printed on the spine is a simple title” “Poe’s Poems”. Sections are organized into “Poems and Essays,” and “Poems Written in Youth”. Poems are introduced by a chapter on “The Poetic Principle” and “Poe’s Preface to the Poems”. Poe introduces his work negatively, writing: “In defense of my own taste, nevertheless, it is incumbent upon me to say that I think nothing in this volume of much value to the public, or very credible to myself” on page 160.
