Children in the Holocaust opened in April 2023 for Yom HaShoah at Temple Sinai in Summit, New Jersey. Dr. Angela West, Coordinator of the Drew University Center for Holocaust/Genocide Study and Adjunct Instructor at Drew, curated the displays.
The exhibition shares the stories of children who were victims and survivors of the Holocaust. Six child survivors, Monique Bental, Selma Rossen and Edith Shapiro, Doris Schneider, Sue Lederman, and Peter Lederman, are central to the exhibit's narrative.
The purposes of the online exhibition are for educational programs and courses. With this resource, we aim to assist faculty at Drew University and K-12 teachers in the New Jersey area with Holocaust curriculum and lesson plans. Users are not required to visit the exhibition in person, but it is strongly encouraged. We highly recommend that all educators utilize this online resource after visiting the Holocaust Remembrance Center to debrief with their students.
