"Blue Ceramic Byron Portrait"

Dublin Core

Title

"Blue Ceramic Byron Portrait"

Subject

Lord Byron

Description

Relief of Byron framed in the center of a square blue ceramic tile. Putti on either side hold a banner marked "Byron" which drapes in front of the scallop-shell, a symbol of pilgrimage, from the final lines of Childe Harold's Pilgrimage. An eagle in flight is seen across the top of the tile, perhaps illustrating the lines from Childe Harold 3, "...here last the eagle flew."
