Analog Science Fiction and Fact, July/August 2005

Analog Science Fiction and Fact, “Analog Science Fiction and Fact, July/August 2005,” Drew University Library Special Collections

This advertisement is the most recent of the ones that are being shown in the exhibit. It was published in Analog Science Fiction and Fact's July and August 2005 editions. This advertisement is for a book that was published that year called Heaven. The advertisement comes from the publishing company, which is the Aspect imprint of the Time Warner Book Group. Aspect is the imprint that is focused on Sci-Fi within the Time Warner Book Group. The advertisement is very minimalist when compared to the previous ads. The layout includes a picture of the cover of the book. The picture depicts what can be assumed to be a young woman with her arms outreached in front of a shining light. The rest of the ad includes reviews of the book from various sources, including some from publications like the Denver Post. The reviews are also from various Sci-Fi writers including David Brin and Stephen Baxter, the reviews in general are very positive. The advertisement also includes a very vague plot description, designed to intrigue the reader into buying the book. Since the readers of a science fiction magazine are filled with stories, it is highly likely that they would also have an interest in a science fiction book, demonstrating that this advertisement was targeted toward people with this interest.
